There are many open source and free ecommerce shopping cart software you can use to sell your stuff online. What is the best and easy to set-up software to use?

One shopping cart software works for one, another for another online shop, so there is no clear winner. We suggest you start with a light shopping cart software that doesn’t have plenty of features at the start and easy to set-up.

You will need hosting that supports Perl or PHP and then of course chose the software that is supported. MySQL database support is required.

Oscommerce - very actively developed and used around the world. Currently over 12,000 online shops are powered by this software and the community is growing. Medium to set-up and customize. Recommended by our Staff.

AgoraCart - offers a free version of their shopping cart. Also nice and easy to set-up.

Allcommerce - open source perl powered shopping cart software. Database can be powered by MySQL, Postgre SQL, or Oracle.

ZenCart - nice interface, easy set-up and running.

X-cart - open source PHP platform powered shopping cart. Very nice for starter web sites and online shops. Recommended!
